1,300 manual tests migrated to automated acceptance testing

Migrating from manual to automated acceptance testing on a reference-data system of about 30 business entities, using Playwright and TypeScript.

~30business entities
PlaywrightTypeScript

Context

A reference-data management web application for an agribusiness group (client kept confidential). About thirty interlinked entities, each with its own mandatory fields, input rules and dependencies.

What I did

  • Manual data validity and consistency tests migrated to Playwright, entity by entity
  • Automated end-to-end user journeys, with test data restored to its original state
  • Per-entity UAT documentation, aligned with the automated tests
  • Flaky-test diagnosis and a test-run tracking tool

Deliverables

  • Automated acceptance testing with 1,300 Playwright/TypeScript tests, ready to run on every deployment
  • One UAT document per entity, readable by business users
  • A dashboard of the last 10 runs: durations, passes, failures

Expertise

What I automate for you.

Three test automation skills and one in Business Analysis, each proven on real engagements.

Automation01

Automating your data checks and user journeys

What I do
I cover every entity in your data (validity, consistency) and replay your key journeys like a real user, on a reusable foundation that grows with your application.
Proof
Validity and consistency checks across the 30 entities of a reference-data system, plus end-to-end scenarios that restore the data, run on every deployment.
What you gain
Regressions are caught before production, not by your users.
UAT migration02

Migrating from manual to automated acceptance testing

What I do
I migrate your manual test cases to automated acceptance testing, in batches and without losing the original coverage, then turn them into UAT documents business users can read.
Proof
A 1,300-test manual UAT migrated entity by entity to automated acceptance testing, with one UAT document per entity.
What you gain
UAT reruns in one click, and the business validates on its own, against exactly what the tests check.
Reliability & tracking03

Making your automated tests reliable and trackable

What I do
I diagnose random failures with the help of AI, fix them at the root, and set up run tracking: durations, passes, failures.
Proof
A click swallowed by a widget, fixed then reused on every screen; a tool that tracks the last 10 Playwright runs.
What you gain
A red test is trustworthy again, and the whole team sees drift at the same time.
Business Analysis · alongside04

Specifying the need before automating it

What I do
I run workshops, formalize business rules and write user stories, functional specifications and nominal and alternate test scenarios.
Proof
Specifications and user stories on an internal Airbus project (through Sopra Steria); pension calculation rules for MAREL, the official French pension simulator (AGIRC-ARRCO).
What you gain
Clear, testable requirements from the start, and one person from requirement to test.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What types of web applications do you test?

Business web applications: back-offices, reference-data management tools, applications with forms, dynamic tables and business rules. Automation is done with Playwright and TypeScript.

Can you take over an existing Playwright test suite?

Yes. A takeover starts with an audit of the suite: flaky tests, fragile selectors, test data. I then stabilize the scenarios in order of priority.

Can you write UAT test cases before automation?

Yes. I write the test cases from your specifications or business rules, then automate the ones that lend themselves to it. Both stay aligned.

How do you estimate project effort?

From the scope: number of scenarios, business rules, test data and the current state of the application. The online estimator gives a first order of magnitude; the final quote follows a scoping call.

Do you work remotely or on-site?

Both. I work remotely, and on-site in France or abroad. Travel expenses depend on the location.

Do you work with consulting firms and internal teams?

Yes. I work directly with clients or through consulting firms, for example on an internal Airbus project with Sopra Steria, and I work day to day with development, QA and business teams.
